Product-Specific Questions

How are your threads different from others on the market?

Our threads are naturally hand-dyed, which means each skein has unique variations and depth of colour. Unlike synthetic dyes, our threads have a natural, artisanal quality that adds a special touch to your projects.

Can I request a specific colour or dye material for my threads?

While we can’t guarantee an exact colour match due to the nature of natural dyes, we’re happy to discuss custom dyeing options. Please reach out with your ideas, and we’ll do our best to accommodate your request.

Will the threads bleed or run when washed?

Natural dyes can sometimes bleed slightly, especially on the first wash. We recommend hand washing your project if necessary in cold water and drying it flat to minimize any colour transfer.

Can I reorder the same colour in the future?

Due to the variability of natural dyes, exact colour replication is challenging, and each batch may vary slightly. If you need a larger quantity of a specific colour, we recommend ordering enough for your entire project at once.

Why do the colours of my threads look different from the pictures online?

Variations in colour are a natural result of the dyeing process, and factors like lighting and monitor settings can affect how colours appear online. These variations add to the uniqueness of each skein.

What fabric counts do you offer?

We offer a range of fabric counts, including 14, 16, 18, and 20 count Aida, 28, 32, 36, and 40 count linen, and 27 count Linda evenweave.

How do I choose the right fabric count for my project?

The fabric count determines the size of your stitches. Higher counts create more detailed, smaller stitches, while lower counts are easier to work with. Beginners might prefer 14 count Aida, while experienced stitchers may opt for 32 or 36 count linen.

What sizes of fabric do you sell?

We offer fabric in fat quarters (18" x 21" for Aida and 18" x 27" for linen and Linda evenweave). Please contact us if you need a larger piece. Note that the fabric is cut to size prior to serging and dyeing.

What are the differences between linen, Aida, and Linda evenweave?

Linen: Natural with a slightly uneven weave, giving it a traditional look.

Aida: Structured fabric with clearly defined holes, ideal for beginners.

Linda Evenweave: Smooth, uniform weave, offering a balance between the ease of Aida and the texture of linen.

How do I know how much fabric to order for my project?

To calculate the fabric size needed, divide the design’s stitch count by the fabric count and add extra inches for framing or finishing. We’re happy to help with calculations if needed.

What should I know about the color of the fabrics?

Our fabrics are naturally hand-dyed, so there may be slight variations in colour between batches. These unique variations contribute to the fabric’s artisanal quality.

Do your fabrics require special care?

Yes, we recommend hand washing your fabric if necessary in cold water with a mild detergent and drying it flat. This helps preserve the color and texture, ensuring your project stays beautiful.

Can I see a sample of the fabric before purchasing?

While we don’t typically offer swatches, we provide detailed photos and descriptions to help you make your choice. Feel free to reach out for additional guidance.

Care and Usage

Are your products suitable for beginners in cross-stitch or embroidery?

Absolutely! Our products are perfect for both beginners and experienced crafters. We offer thread packs to help you get started, showcasing how the colours can work together in a project.

How do I care for my naturally dyed threads and fabrics?

To care for your naturally dyed items, hand wash if necessary in cold water with a mild detergent and lay them flat to dry. Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, as this can cause colors to fade over time.

How do I store my threads and fabrics to prevent fading or damage?

Store your threads and fabrics in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight. You can also keep them in breathable storage containers or acid-free bags to prevent dust and dirt from settling on them.

Will your threads and fabrics work with other brands or materials?

Our threads and fabrics are designed to work beautifully with a variety of brands and materials. However, the unique nature of natural dyes means that colour matching may not be exact. We recommend testing a small area if you're combining them with other products.
